Balenciaga at Zara

This is so ironic, in my last post (see below) I mentioned how i loved the Chanel and Balenciaga head pieces and would love to get my hands on any one of them.  Now I kind of have. I was browsing through my local Zara store 2 days ago and look what I found:

A headpiece very similar in style to the ones made by Balenciaga. See below and tell me if you agree:

Besides the fact that the Balenciaga headpiece is priced at (believe it or not) $1,815.00, it is Sold Out everywhere. So my find at Zara for $19.99 is such a steal!!!

I can definitely live with the fact that I am wearing leaves in my hair instead of twigs....

Coachella

Whenever I think of a music festival, be it Coachella or Glastonbury or any other, the first thing I think of is fun and funky head gear. My all time fave headpieces (although none of the ones below was worn to a music festivals) are:

The Chanel headpiece worn by Christine Centenera - my style icon. How great does it look?

The next is another Chanel piece (dang, why can I not like something that I can actually go out and buy??) worn by Miroslava Duma.

I love how both these ladies have made, what could be traditionally very ethnic pieces, into edgy contemporary headgear just by how they wore them. Kudos!!!

The next one is a Balenciaga headpiece worn by who else - Christine Centenera.....

How different and fun is this piece??? Now if I could only have one of them, any of them, I am not picky ;)))

Ear Jackets

Ear jackets, the add-on accessory for stud earrings, have been around forever but this season they have gone beyond the usual and standard designs. Traditionally, they are colored stone jackets that can be added to go around your stone or pearl stud earrings.

The new styles no longer just add perimeter to the earrings -  they are added to the post, behind the ear and hang below the lobe !!! This is what they look like:

And this is what they look like when worn:

Jeweler Jacquie Aiche has taken these jackets to a new level, she calls her collection both classy and badass. Her decorative backings are adorned with diamonds or pave stones and are catching on with a lot of celebrities like Alessandra Ambrosio.

Check out some of the variations of the above:

I love what Kate Mara has done with her ear jacket, it just looks stunning.  Here is a closer look:

Upon closer inspection and a little bit of research here is what I learnt - she has three pieces going on - one is the stud, second is the ear jacket (of course) below the lobe and finally a ruby ear cuff above the stud. How ingenious is that??? I am definitely going to try and recreate this look - the search for the pieces is now on.

Cutaway and Bejeweled

I have seen cutaway and bejeweled going together in dresses but this is the first time I am seeing this combination on - of all things - a sweatshirt!!!!!! What???

Check out this sweatshirt by Christopher Kane, it is soooooo drool worthy...

What did I tell you? I cannot get over the jewel encrusted cutout. This is the first sweatshirt, in my humble opinion, that is both sexy and dressy.

Now here is the downer - it is priced at $3,045.00 and is already Sold Out!!! Not that I would have bought it..... So who was the first celebrity to snap it up and wear it? Rosie Huntington Whiteley.
