Chanel Wine

Yes, you read that right!!!

Chanel’s owners, the Wertheimer brothers, acquired Château Rauzan-Ségla, located in the heart of France’s Bordeaux region, in 1994. Since the acquisition, Chanel has been credited with a constant improvement of the wine.

To celebrate the 350th anniversary of the winery, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld created a special label. He produced a drawing of the Château Rauzan-Ségla itself and which of course bears his signature. The 2009 vintage was priced at $129.

The Rauzan-Ségla came under attack last summer for raising the price of its 2010 40 percent over the 2009. I tried to price out the 2005, 2009 and 2010 wines, and here is what I found. The 2009 with the special label  and the 2010 are all sold out and the 2005 was available for $180.
