White Done Right - Olivia Palermo

Finally the weather is starting to warm up and I am ready to push my dark colored clothing to the back of my closet. My fave color to wear when the weather is warm is white, nice pure, bright ,white and of late no one has done white better than Olivia Palermo.

How does she do it? I am totally going to emulate these looks, of course as best as I can.

Put a Ring On it

I have never been a "string of pearls” kind of girl, actually never even thought I liked pearl jewelry, until now. What do you know, this year has been all about pearls, starting with the double pearl Chanel necklace ( click here), then the double sided Dior Tribal earrings (click here) and now these pearl rings.

I first spotted oversized pearl rings at the Chanel show and then pearl rings were all over the Fashion Weeks. These double pearl, open finger rings are so unexpected and fun.  Check the ones worn by Miraslava and Naseeba respectively:

I especially love the ones worn by Naseeba, I would love to stack them up. From what I gather some of these rings are made by Chanel and others by Maria Stern or Natasha Zinko. The Chanel ones can obviously be found in their stores and online but I am unable to find the others, they seem to be sold out everywhere.

Good news is that there are several DIY tutorials on the web that teach you how to make these rings pretty inexpensively and easily. I am not very good at making my own jewelry but I love these rings so much that I am willing to give it a shot. Lets see what I end up with...

Did You Hear???

Did You Hear that Steve Madden Acquired Brian Atwood???

Steve Madden has acquired fellow shoemaker Brian Atwood from its owner The Jones Group. Apparently, the Brian Atwood brand was underperforming and their flagship store in Manhattan closed a few weeks ago.

Brian Atwood had signed up with The Jones Group in 2010 when he launched his contemporary line, B by Brian Atwood. When it became obvious that The Jones Group were going to sell his brand, Brian tried to exercise his buyback option. The word is that Brian Atwood will have completely transitioned to the Steve Madden Group by Spring 2015.

Here’s wishing him the Best!!!!

Be Conscious of H&M’s New Collection

Just yesterday I saw pictures of Sophia Bush wearing a gorgeous lace dress with, what appeared to me, amazing stone work. Of course I wanted to know who she was wearing and what the price was. I was amazed to find out that the dress is from H&M’s Conscious Collection 2014.

Here is the outfit I saw:

What do you think? And guess what the stones are not encrusted on to the dress - it is a separate stone shoulder harness. How cool is that??

The dress is priced at $249 and the harness at $149. I really have to buy the harness I love, love, love it. Here are some of the other pieces from the collection that I am lusting after:

Love all the accessories in the picture above - the earrings, the clutch and the shoes, oh the shoes....

I also like both the off shoulder top and the pleated tail shirt pictured below, priced at $59.95 and 34.95, respectively.

You can view the picture book and every single piece from the collection on Caroline Mode above.

Cuffed by McQueen

Cuffs have been popular for a couple of years now. I have seen cuffs (besides obviously being worn on the wrists) worn at the ankles, worn over boots and have also seen sandals with cuffs, boots with cuffs..... you get the drift. BUT I have never seen cuffs like this set of cuffs from Alexander McQueen. Check them out:

You can definitely wear them separately but they look absolutely gorgeous when they are worn together. Sienna Miller is the first celebrity to be seen sporting them and man does she do justice to them - take a look:

I am not sure what they are priced at but can bet they cost a pretty penny.  We will definitely be seeing “inspired” pieces at ASOS or H&M. Till then we can continue to lust and wish....

Double Sided Earrings

I literally did a double take when I first saw these double sided Dior Pearl Tribal earrings on Jennifer Lawrence. I was so mesmerized by their super cool front and back design. What added to their allure was that they were classy (pearls) but also tough-girl - all at the same time. What a marvelous contradiction.

Soon after the initial sighting I saw Emma Watson wear the same pair at the Golden Globes but she wore only one earring instead of the pair and that looked real good too. Since then Dior has come out with several different colors in the same style and they suggest mixing and matching them to have a fun new combination every time.

Other designers too have jumped on to the double sided earring bandwagon and have come out with very interesting versions. Check out this pair by Givenchy:

Just today I saw a picture of Sarah Jessica Parker wearing this stone encrusted pair by Vita Fede.

The double sided earrings are definitely more intriguing than your standard stud and make twice the impact. This is one bandwagon I am defi jumping on :)

Want.....Moncler

Sorry for the week long break from posting, had Spring Break and had gone skiing. This trip only compounded my desire to own a Moncler jacket. I have been lusting over them for a couple of years now but the price is a bit daunting, to say the least. I kept hoping that it was a fad and I would get over it but three years later I still want one....

What sets the Moncler apart, from the other quilted jackets, for me - (no, it is not the logo on the sleeve, I swear) is the gorgeous colors it comes in and how it is super light weight and warm at the same time.

I keep trying to time the purchase and have been hoping to be able to buy one on sale. Unfortunately that has not happened yet.

Check out the ones below. I would love to hear your thoughts on the same

Chanel Wine

Yes, you read that right!!!

Chanel’s owners, the Wertheimer brothers, acquired Château Rauzan-Ségla, located in the heart of France’s Bordeaux region, in 1994. Since the acquisition, Chanel has been credited with a constant improvement of the wine.

To celebrate the 350th anniversary of the winery, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld created a special label. He produced a drawing of the Château Rauzan-Ségla itself and which of course bears his signature. The 2009 vintage was priced at $129.

The Rauzan-Ségla came under attack last summer for raising the price of its 2010 40 percent over the 2009. I tried to price out the 2005, 2009 and 2010 wines, and here is what I found. The 2009 with the special label  and the 2010 are all sold out and the 2005 was available for $180.

Poker Face

I have been seeing pictures of these chic playing card clutches all over the Fashion Month from New York to Paris. These clutches hand-crafted by Urania Giourmetaki, in her family’s plexiglass factory in Greece, add quirk and uniqueness to any outfit.

The clutches are outfitted with iconic playing card features, making them look like oversized card decks. They feature cards from the Queen of Hearts to the Joker and add fun to any outfit and......... come with a hefty price tag of around $1,000.

You may have to wait for your next royal flush before you invest in them.

Take a look at them:

Shortalls have to follow...

If Overalls are in style, when it is cooler, than Shortfalls have to follow as it gets warmer. Seems to be the right kind of transition. Shortalls are no longer for teeny boppers alone, they can be worn with equal aplomb by women of all ages, as can be seen below. It all depends on how you dress them up.

Both Vanessa Hudgens and Jennifer Aniston have been seen rocking this trend and you have to agree they both look equally great in them.

Overalls

OK so they are not for little kids only, anymore. Designers are showing many different versions of the overalls. Of course they are available in denim but they are also showing up in leather versions, which are so not PG.... they can look down right sexy.

They are being dressed up or down in several different ways - with blouses, t-shirt's, crop tops and sports bras. Stars seem to have taken a real liking for this trend. Check out the pics below:

So what do you think - Is this a trend you are going to embrace - or are you kinda like - been there done that? Personally, I am really digging the leather overalls, I may give that a try.

The Mules are Back

The Mules are back but albeit in a different avatar than the ones that were there in the 60’s. They are less clunky and more sleek and contemporary. I was really skeptical about them, as many of you probably are, until I laid my eyes on this pair by Tibi....

Aren’t they just gorg??? These wedges, which also come in a white color, are sold out almost everywhere. If you want them, I suggest buying them ASAP.

Chloe has been killing it in the shoe department this season. Don’t you agree? Check this pair out:

A point to note, mules don’t mean just wedge heels. This pair from Fendi is a mule but does not have a wedge heel.

And finally dear ol’ Zara has their version too. Clean and classic.
